Curriculum vitae
Lorenzo Sbaffi: Conductor, Composer and Violinist. He did his musical studies graduating in violin (BM), composition (BA) and conducting (BM) at Perugia “F. Morlacchi” and Pesaro “G. Rossini” Conservatories. At “G. Rossini” Conservatory he got the Master's degree (first-class degree) in Orchestra conducting. He began the profession as violinist collaborating with many orchestras in Italy and in foreign countries; Italian Youth Orchestra, Ente Lirico of Cagliari, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, the Tiroler Festspielorchester (Austria), and the IPC (Mexico). He studied composition with Fernando Sulpizi deepening the knowledge of the XX century music writing a study about the structuralist experience of Pierre Boulez. He wrote more than twentyfive works performed Italy (in “Terra dei Teatri” Festival, for the "I Concerti del Gentile" Symphonic season and the “Amici della Musica” association of Fabriano), in Portugal in 2005 for the 60th anniversary of “Centro National de Cultura” of Lisbon, in Finland for the Vaasa City hall concert season. Since 2001 his principal activity is conducting electing his principal references Gustav Kuhn and Jorma Panula. With the last one he studies continuosly since 2006 deepening the mittel Europe and Scandinavian music culture. He also studied with Leif Segerstam, Colin Metters and with Manlio Benzi at "G. Rossini" Conservatory. He conducted the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, the Slovak State Philarmonic (Kosice), the Pori Sinfonietta (Finland), the Vaasa City Orchestra (Finland), preferring the classical and romantic symphonic repertoire since contemporary music (prémiere by Fernando Suplizi, Mario Mariani, Roberta Silvestrini). In 2009 on the podium of the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana he conducted the primiere of his Requiem for soloists, choir and orchestra (2010 Hyperprism Editions). In 2001 he collaborated as soloist and conductor with the G. Spontini chamber Orchestra and since then he conduct the Barbarino Youth Orchestra. He is the director of “Bartolomeo Barbarino” Music School in Fabriano (Italy).
