Tempo!
Tempo! Wrote in memory of the violinist Alma Vecchi, dead in January 2006. The violin out of stage is the symbol of absence, the metronome gives the time that goes between “right” and “wrong” during the piece. In fact, the interpreters starting from the soloist violin, play sections out of time. So the fundamental element is the worry of all musicians to play in time. The first performance took place in the “musica insieme” festival in “Teatro MISA” of Arcevia (Ancona) in April 2006.
Sei
solo Sei solo has six movements. It is a game around the double meaning expressed by the italian title. (Sei solo means both “six solos” and “you are alone”).The movements are:A solo, Solamente, Lasciato solo, Assolutamente (solo), Lasciatemi solo, Rimasto solo. The interpreter is alone, only with the friendship of his foot ( in Solamente), and of a wood-chimes (in Assolutamente solo). The piece is dedicated to the trombonist Massimo Gianangeli, who performed for the first time in the festival “Ostra prendiamoci gusto” in “Azienda vinicola Mezzanotte Sandrino” (Senigallia) in June 1st 2007.
Il
villaggio deserto
The desert village born as a didact study for the Barbarino Youth Orchestra that Lorenzo Sbaffi conducts from 2000. The first performance took place in the “musica insieme” festival in “Teatro MISA” of Arcevia (Ancona) in May 22nd 2005.
Requiem
The requiem for solos, choir and orchestra, wrote in a voices and organ version too, was born for the autor’s interest in the latin text of mass, in particular the Dies Irae sequence. The writing comes from Gregorian music and searches the trasparence without the romantic emphasis typical of this kind of composition. Music at the service of the words, as an authentic search to sing the prayer. The first performance was in "Gentile" theater, Fabriano AN during the "I Concerti del Gentile" Symphonic Season, in 2009 April 2nd. Soloists: Alessandra Ceciarelli soprano, Elisa Morelli mezzosoprano, Gabriele Mangione tenor, Dong Il Jang bariton. "E Pluribus Unum" choir, FORM-Filarmonica Marchigiana Orchestra, conductor Lorenzo Sbaffi.

Comunicazione
I
The piece is a communication between trombone and piano starting from the idea of an internet connection. The sound of the modem while connecting to internet is in fact the incipit of piano. At the first time the trombone replays busy but then goes progressively in communication. The trombonist Massimo Gianangeli with the pianist Alessia Mortaloni made the first performance in “sala L. Ubaldi” of Fabriano (Ancona) March 20th 2004.
S-comunicazione
I Wrote for “n” instruments it was performed for the first time with four trombones in the concert of March 20th 2004 in “Sala L. Ubaldi” of Fabriano (Ancona). The composition is the result of fragments, ideas for a given time improvisation following a free sequence for every interpreter. Each one starts and finishes the execution independently from the others.
